Okedokee then!
‘I’m happy to help.’
‘No, I’m ok doing it myself.’
‘But I don’t mind really.’
‘NO DEB I’D RATHER DO IT MYSELF.’
Okedokee then!
‘Ok, let me know if you change your mind.’
‘Yup.’
So, you would think that I would find some household chore to keep him company, right? But he clearly didn’t want me around, is how I heard it.
So, I head out to the bar with a girlfriend while Barry paints the house. For real.
Now before you start feeling sorry for Barry, remember this is what he wanted. He wanted me to stay out of his way. Trust me on this.
And let’s face it, I’m obliging, if nothing else.
And there may be a reason for him not wanting my help. Because you see, it’s my lack of patience. And my dislike of painting. And taping. Basically, all things painty.
He kinda knew me.
Well truth be told, he knew me very well — twenty-nine years of marriage will do that. He once said to me, well actually, he said it more than once — he could never golf with me because I have no patience. I’d likely get so frustrated that I’d probably pick up the ball and put it in that ridiculously small hole myself. Or throw it in the water! Either way, he never wanted to golf with me.
He had such a low opinion of me. Which still makes me laugh today!

Hi Debbie. I relate to this blog so much... Henry always says " when God was handing out patience, I wasn’t in that line up". I was in the socializing one. I told Henry a couple of years ago, buy me a painters outfit and I will help you paint. He replied: if you paint this little section of wall, maybe 2 ft., we will buy you a painters outfit. Needless to say after performing 2 strokes, I quit. I didn't want the outfit anyway.
